Rules and Regulations

The Peabody Mason International Piano Competition will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, from 17-22 May 2010.

The jury will consist of outstanding pianists, critics and renowned teachers. 

Finalists must be able to obtain a valid passport and visa.  Cost of travel and housing accommodations will be covered by the finalists.

The finalists are invited to attend master classes given by the jury members from May 17 to May 22.  For the First Prize winner, a public concert in a hall in the Boston area will be arranged according to the schedule of the winner and the organizers.

During the finals, the jury will also consider awarding other (non-cash) prizes, such as Second and Third Prize, and special mention categories.

Candidates will be judged solely on the basis of their playing.  Each candidate should send by mail the following:

An unedited CD or DVD (NTSC format) including works from all four categories (see Repertoire List). The four works may be recorded in separate sessions.  

There will be four rounds:  Three based on the CD or DVD, and one live, in Boston.

A completed application must include the following by postal services and must be postmarked by 15 April 2010 (please send using tracking).

1.  Completed Application Form

2.  Recent photo for publicity purposes.

3.  Within the US, a non-refundable fee of $150 by check or money order made out to Peabody Mason, or receipt of a direct bank transfer or domestic wire.  Outside the US, a non-refundable fee of $150 (or equivalent) by check or money order, or receipt of a direct deposit; or receipt of a wire transfer in the amount of $175 (or equivalent), to the Peabody Mason account.
